FERRAGAMO

Brand

Founded in 1927, FERRAGAMO (formerly Salvatore Ferragamo) is an Italian leather goods company, specialising in footwear. Italian-born shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo emigrated to the United States as a teenager, settling eventually in Hollywood. He opened the Hollywood Boot Shop in 1923, and made shoes for some of American cinema's most glamorous women, including Joan Crawford and Gloria Swanson. Moving back to his homeland in 1927, Ferragamo established a shoe shop, and the following year founding his eponymous footwear brand.

Ferragamo popularised and invented many of the styles that remain immensely popular today including wedge and cage heels. His innovative designs drew on his anatomy studies completed at the University of Southern California. Although Ferragamo passed away in 1960, his company remains in family hands. The youngest designer to win the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, Paul Andrew, was appointed creative director at Salvatore Ferragamo in February 2019.

In March 2022, the designer Maximilian Davis was appointed creative director and called upon fashion's leading art director and graphic design Peter Saville to help create a new logo, which shorten's the brands name to just FERRAGAMO.
