When it comes to fashion’s favourite K-pop stars is there anyone more in demand than Jennie? The former BLACKPINK member’s style has made her a favourite with the industry’s biggest names (along with her nearly 85 million Instagram followers). Still, it’s the South Korean brand Gentle Monster that the musician is clearly a fan of, having just unveiled her third collaboration with the eyewear innovators. Dubbed ‘Jentle Salon’, the creative duo present a collection of shades embellished with charms.
Made up of eight different silhouettes, the collection’s defining features are attachments at the temples where an array of charms can be attached. Playing up the cutesy, maximalism of girlhood along with Jennie’s favourite things, the collection of 11 charms includes capybaras, clouds, bows and more. The diverse charms and frame shapes give endless possibilities for creating a pair of sunglasses fully personalised to the wearer.
To accompany the release, Jennie puts down the microphone to model in the collection’s campaign. Shot by Petra Collins, the series showcases the diverse personalisation of the Jentle Salon collection while giving fans a glimpse of Jennie’s supermodel capabilities. Washed in hues of pink and cream the campaign is indicative of Collins’ signature dreamy femininity that’s long made her a cult favourite photographer.
Of course, the collaboration doesn’t end there. Always ones to bring their drops to life, Gentle Monster have organised pop-ups in 13 cities around the world. Playing up the nostalgic, childlike quality of the collection, the activations promise to feature giant unicorns straight from Jennier’s dreams.
