We dropped by Philip Treacy's Battersea HQ this afternoon, to get a tour of his studio. What you can't see here is the intriguing spectacle of assistants torturing goose feathers with curling tongs. He was adamant that this wasn't 'milinery' we were witnessing, however. That's a rather dowdy subset of... [more]

When designer Fabien Baron was keen to secure the Halloween slot for screening his Moving Fashion submission, we were curious. Was his film short a reworking of Thriller, perhaps? A seasonal comment on the Galliano Spring/Summer extravaganza, featuring an old witch? The piece we received, in eventuality, was... [more]

Being a website and all, when you get something wrong, the temptation is to just amend it in the 'CMS' and pretend it never happened. However, given our commitment to 'open process' and such, I should fall upon my sword with regard to Sølve's film, admit our error and blog... [more]

It's rare for individual garments to live up to rave reviews like the ones Balenciaga has recieved this season. It won't suprise you to learn that the soundtrack was 'Goldfinger'. Mmm, short, aren't they? These Alaia-esque numbers came out to the thumping sound of Susie Quatro and Tina Turner, baring a buttock or two as they swished along, fast. Not as fast as McQueen doing his lap of honour, wearing a 'we love you Kate' T-shirt.

Only five days in and already I'm running out of superlatives. The shift from one Rochas collection to another may be minimal -the Edwardian, serpentine silhouette continues from Autumn/Winter through to this Spring/Summer presentation. It's true: I'm not the greatest photographer. But if my shot looks a little am-dram, then that's because it was. I felt a warm, SHOWstudio glow seeing 'Amaze Me' name-checked in Bruno Pieters' literature accompanying his very precise and luminous study of 50s skirt suits, bell skirts and modern reworking of tuxedos (with city shorts). As at Tao and Watanabe, the trenches were sharp and highly covetable.

Paris' Grand Palais reopened tonight (after a 10 year renovation) with a shock. A minimalist collection by John Galliano for Dior! Acres and acres of flesh-toned chiffon: this was a grand statement (if expressed in a highly understated manner by his standards.)

It was all Pomp & Circumstance at Comme des Garcons' Spring/Summer '06 show. These white, plastic-y Mohiccans were the crowning elements of a hard 'n fast show by SHOW favourite (and designer of current downloadable pattern), Junya Watanabe.
