Greg k and jeremy scott share a quiet word over dinner! I viol they are talking about me ...
Arrived in paris today. So sad though as my luggage is still in milan!
Another Man is out, which means we can at last unveil Nick and Alister's images from Boned, shot in May/June! You may remember the shoot was inspired by the neglect of men’s underwear, in terms of design and representation in fashion imagery i.e. the usual unadventurous pants donned by an... [more]
For the finalé of the soundtrack, Antony whipped the crew up into a bit of a frenzy whereupon we were all asked to participate in a Manson family-like chant to the Japanese sun goddess Amaterasu. Not wishing to be a party-pooper, I held the bell, of course, but if you... [more]
This is one for the SHOW studio, really. Look who it is, team - former SHOWstudio intern, little Helen Cooper!! Now all grown up and assistant to the talented Jane How, Antony has enlisted Helen and other members of the crew in a little penny whistle-tootling.
Antony warms up on the piano, the assistants give the turntable a bit of a polish and Anna Whiting rids the black-draped set of all white specks before Hussein lets rip with a new piece of technology he's never tried before in his designs...
During the course of THE REPLENISHING BODY events we captured the daily comings and goings with our trusty Polaroid camera. From the earlier, celebrity visitors to the opening party guests and beyond they're all here in our Polaroid gallery.
That's it for tonight. Antony, Hussein and the gang will be back in for more tomorrow morning.
There are times when I curse this picture phone for preventing me from actually experiencing the thing I'm struggling to document. There are other times -like now- that I bless it for recording something nobody would ever believe were there not pictorial evidence. Imagine the call:
"What were you doing... [more]
Duffy lets go with the windmachine whilst the 'table keeps on turnin'!
As Antony and Chris get right on it with those beaters, let me regale you with the rich musical history of the studio we're working in. Admittedly, the 'purple haze' quality of my blogs is far from intentional (it's dark in there) but conincidentally, Jimi Hendrix's 1967 track of the... [more]
Colin keeps at it on the gong whilst Antony plunder the contents of the extraordinary sound library on his Mac. So far, we've had Boy George discussing love and Marilyn, a religious zealot denouncing the depraved and now this thunderous jungle music. I'll leave it to you to imagine the... [more]
For the first outfit, Antony is experimenting with an 'E'-pitched bell, ringing it to create soundback via a megaphone. His assistant Colin Whitaker plays away on the piano regardless.
The shoot is about to begin and I feel a bit like I'm backstage in A Star is Born: cymbals are crashing and bells are ringing, a crazy soundtrack of heraldic flute music is playing over some Eastern chanteuse on the PA, whilst Antony is improvising in the middle of... [more]
Reflecting upon Hussein Chalayan’s proposal, Nick Knight opened a floodgate of suggestions for the ‘Readings’ film being shot this week. The suggestions for Antony Hegarty produced a great flow of creative ideas, wild concepts, and outlandish proposals. Submissions range from Arabic chanting to the sound of Nuremberg rally crowds... [more]
We are delighted that our guest musician for READINGS is to be the talented Antony Hegarty! We will be shooting this Wednesday and Thursday, 26 & 27th: watch this space for confirmation, sending in your sound ideas for Antony as you do!
There's only one thing for it: a 'Stella n' Al' golf cart home!
The opening track from The Cocteau Twins' 'Bluebell Knoll' is about the unlikeliest fashion show tune I can think of, but it was the recurrent hook for Giles' impressive procession of beautifully crafted gowns last night. Apparently the designer had been raiding his famous record collection and the albums of... [more]
Launching simultaneously with his first on-schedule catwalk presentation as part of the MAN showcase at London Fashion Week, watch menswear designer Aitor Throup's film collaboration with photographer Jez Tozer, The Funeral of New Orleans - Part One. A narrative response to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Throup's collection... [more]
There are no flies on that Eugene Souleiman! At 6.30 the snowy-haired Agyness Deyn closes Henry Holland's Guns 'n Roses-themed collection as part of the Fashion East showcase, and at 8.44, she's back on the catwalk at Giles with a flame-red 'do!
After sterling performances as part of our replenishing body project it was time for Jodie Harsh and Namalee to take to the stage at last nights Super Super show. As well as a catwalk show from five young designers we were also treated to a performance from The-o which... [more]
It's always a bit of a nightmare, queueing for shows with other journalists - the pressure of that seemingly benign but in fact highly confrontational question: "so...what have you liked so far?". Last night, answering it was easy. I liked, no I really liked Richard Nicoll. Showing at the Topshop... [more]
'Out of respect to members of the Landsdowne Club' in Mayfair, invitees to Roksanda's show this morning were asked to refrain from wearing denim. Perhaps this was a deliberate clue to the old-world glamour and grace we were about to witness. Full-length gowns in liquid charmeuse and floor skimming, jewelled... [more]
Simon Foxton's latest opus.
...at the kickers party. Fred did all the installations and Simon (Foxton)'s even got his own line of shoes here.
Interesting volumes were played with at this afternoon's Sinha-Stanic show with expansive shapes cowled around the shoulders, chest and hips. Volumising the upper body like this will no doubt induce relief after the bodycon overdose that seems to have dominated the London catwalk for the last two seasons. Doubled-over collars... [more]
Countdown to the show ics begun and my parents invites just arrived ... Butterflies are already here!
"Some were like feathers, but feathers of neon, laser-drawn, exquisitely refined and breathtakingly delicate. Others were like urban plans, architechturally precise, like cities viewed from the air." So goes Nick Knight's description of the beauty and diversity of plants he encountered in the Natural History Museum botanical collection when preparing... [more]
Yesterday was the first time Deryck Walker showed womenswear and it was in balancing traditional tailoring in billowing fabrics that he managed a formula to translate well across the sexes. Sidebodied coats in what looked like dark muslins were darted and shaped at the waist with fluttery lapels teamed... [more]

Some interesting proposals at Ann-Sofie Back’s show this evening: a new rectilinear shoulder that is constructed as a vertical ridge from a padded-out armscye - the latter in evidence in some of Deryck Walker’s structured shirts this afternoon. While some thought it reminiscent of Margiela, structurally there was very little... [more]
Ever since they came under the wing of Italian luxury consortium Aeffe, the cartoonish tomfoolery of Bruno Basso and Chris Brooke has become palpably more restrained with each season. From a commercial point of view, this isn’t all bad. The market for dayglo phallus prints on blouses, or indeed ‘leggins’... [more]
Stuck in the studio with aggy and starting to go a little insane ... Aggy joins the ranks of the greats
After the pandemonium concerning 'the burglary' and all the 'did they/didn't they?' rumours, there was even more pressure on Christopher Kane's third collection than last time. This image features the key elements: python print chiffon frills, denim-style shirts (also in chiffon) with popper fasteners and zips down the sleeves. Add... [more]
After a great opening party on saturday night at Beyond the Valley, we have launched the public gallery so you can see what went on. Have a look through to get some inspiration, then get down to the gallery and show us what you've got!
After a number of S/S shows that let's face it, looked more like they'd equip you suitably for a Scottish winter, Luella began hers with fresh, floral frocks fit for Spring. But soon, a bat emblem began to emerge and by the end of the show, there was a fully-fledged... [more]
This young designer may be feted for short, highly-worked corset dresses that harness the body, but in this S/S collection it was as if he was peeling the layers of his workmanship away literally to reveal the human form beneath. In the first section of the show, fabric was curling... [more]
With her first shop opening on London's Brook Street today and her 'return to London' show at Claridges, Luella Bartley is very much in the news today. She off-set the attention by hosting a live set from the very good looking Sister to open the show.
You might think you know plenty about Anna Wintour: the magazine, the family, the rumours, the nick-names, the hair-cut... But have you ever thought what it would be like being her? We were sat right next to her at Gareth's show yesterday and this is the view she has to... [more]
It's no news that Gareth Pugh has decided to address the 'but is it wearable clothing?' question: rather than merely continuing to make press-pleasing show pieces, he has enlisted the help of Rick Owens' partner Michele Lamy to also help build up his business. The whispers that have been circulating... [more]
Gemma Banks of the band Sister dressed as one of the Drapes from John Waters' 1990 film Cry-Baby in Peter Jensen's fun S/S '08 show.
Gert Jonkers and Jop Van Bennekom of Fantastic Man magazine on the catwalk after Gareth Pugh's show.
It's always a guessing game as to who Peter Jensen's 'collection muse' will be and this season's didn't disappoint. The many lurid characters played by Mink Stole in the films of John Waters informed five sections titled: 'Dottie', 'Sandra', 'Taffy', 'The Drapes' and 'Connie'. Waters officionados will already get the... [more]
26 year old Scutt showed directly after Louise Goldin with an incredibly body conscious silhouette, trashy jungle prints and a truck load of Aldo fetish shoes. Word is, Danielle's been 'angry' this year and took her inspiration from Ridley Scott's Gladiator and Kubrick's Sparticus to create a warrior woman.

Just got back from gareth's show, which was amazing as ever ... aggy closed the show and this is how it all began!
A fluoro nymphette took to Louise Goldin's catwalk this lunchtime - a signal that hypercolour may be making its second coming for summer '08. With a body conscious silhouette that saw an overlaying of swimsuit shapes, kinky bandaging and abbreviated parachute dresses finished off with plastic piping, this one was... [more]

London Fashion Week's finest came down in droves to try out The Replenishing Body video interactive at Beyond the Valley tonight. Judy Blame and Diane Pernet danced a 25-part video waltz, whilst musician Daniel Pemberton larked around with an Evian bottle to please the sponsors. Róisín Murphy (above), meanwhile put... [more]

Made it to my first show this afternoon! Bjork and Mcelligot, a pair of girls just out of college, sent out very beautiful mens and womens pieces - my favorite piece was a glass briefcase. The height of impractical chic! If only my photography was as good as the clothes!!... [more]
London Fashion Week may be just about to begin but Norwegian menswear designer Siv Støldal got her show in last week before the rush! I popped over to see her magnificent exhibit 'Cover Up' at Sketch on Thursday, where she had decorated its frontage with her A/W '07 collection.

Yves Saint Laurent are doing a grand job of creating anticipation for Stefano Pilati's new Manifesto, due to hit London's streets on Monday.
Anyone would think Henry Holland and Agyness Deyn had enough on their hands these days, what with Henry’s Tee-shirt line exploding globally and Agyness busy waving the flag for British models from the world’s top catwalks. But oh no, this pair of Mancunians won’t be stopping there in their quest... [more]
Great to see the suggestions for Antony coming in. To make the brief really clear, I want suggestions for simple ways to make sound, not whole song treatments. For example, banging coconuts, tapping her foot whilst humming or playing the spoons.
Yours,
Nick
We’ve had stylists, models, designers, even the odd dancer too. Now that you’ve seen what some of British fashion’s top creatives came up with when asked to recreate themselves in this surreal and fragmented mode of portraiture, it’s your turn to step up to the grid. Drop by Beyond the... [more]
In addition to the BRIEF published yesterday, Hussein obliged us with a little interview to get you inspired. Hear him talk you though the 'Readings' collection and draw attentions to the aspects you should be interpreting into music...
The postman has been busy getting this months new season of exhibition and event announcements distributed. Emily Pethick's 'Imagine Action' though, is actually a long running summer show that culminates this weekend with some interesting peformances. Transmissions will be there.
This is Phil. Phil has joined the SHOWstudio replenishing body team as an invigilator. He will be down at the gallery helping the public to create their very own masterpieces. You can see Phil here working with Annette and Daniela Felder on their portrait. Way to go Phil!
Danny Sangra joined the celebrity gallery this morning with a humorous blend of himself and his illustrations. He has an exhibition on at the moment, so if you like what you see then why not pop along and say hi.

If you're going to agree to take on the weighty responsibility of the SHOWstudio Picture Phone during fashion week, then you'd better know how to work the thing!! Ross instructed Henry Holland in that dark art today, to make sure he's sufficiently well versed to brief Agyness...
Shona Heath turned up at her pre-arranged time with props and an idea. Simon Foxton, however, turned up unannounced with only his face and customary enthusiasm to go on. If you head over to the gallery you can see how they both got on...
In connection with our screening night last Thursday, the BFI Southbank showed all 48 of our More Beautiful Women films on a continual loop this weekend. We've had another great day in the studio with fantastic efforts from Peter Jensen and Namalee. Peter had some Chanel no.5 with him and suggested he sprayed it onto his hair. Namalee was reading a comic book which gave us the inspiration for the second of her portraits. You''ll believe... [more]
