New Fashion Film Launched!

Coinciding with the opening of Maison Martin Margiela's new Bruton Street boutique today, we felt the time was apt for the release our latest foray into fashion film, Make Up Your Mind. Focused on just one of the many archive-inspired highlights of Margiela's Spring/Summer 2009 'Retrospective' collection, Nick Knight and Ruth Hogben's film features the house's peroxide platinum "Wig-Coat" in anarchic animation. Dancing a postmodern pas de deux, our two dancers - one naked and one swathed in Margiela's outlandish creation - make a surreal couple, faces veiled like Magritte's lovers and harshly spotlit. The coat itself, key to the film, is finally unpicked by an essay examining the meaning behind the seaming of this show-stopping showpiece. Surreal and unreal, amusing, quietly disquieting yet oddly seductive, this fashion short is all about contradictory mind games.

    Gorgeous colour palette, beautiful song, fantastic dancing, amazing clothes and wonderfully observed. All in all a surreal treat.

    no never seen a picture of him, he even stays backstage at the shows. Rumour has it that he communicates most things via fax?!

    I really love the song with this film,does anybody know anything about the singer and the band. Can I download the track anywhere?
    By the way a friend of a friend went to the Margiela shop opening and she said he wasn't there.

    I've never seen anything like this before either... Do you mean Nick and Ruth being movie stars?! Or the dancers?! Either way this is so fantastic and sometimes makes me cry watching it whilst playing the Delta track really really loudly over it

    Hmmm. Stylistically interesting I would say, but probably could have been compressed into fifteen or twenty seconds rather than three plus minutes of a camera on lockdown.
