Claire Barrow's two-day LiveStudio begins tomorrow, 7 November
Flora - our latest exhibition and Nick Knight's first in the SHOWstudio space - focuses on the now iconic botanical imagery born from Knight's access to the Natural History Museum's herbarium, where he spent three and a half years selecting specimens. To accompany the exhibition SHOWstudio has invited select designers and artists to offer up their own interpretation to the theme of flora and natural beauty in two-day long LiveStudios.
First up is Stockton-on-Tees-born designer Claire Barrow, who will be collaborating The Horrors' leading man Faris Badwan to produce Petal. Barrow sprang to the fashion world's attention earlier this year with a series of acclaimed projects, including a collaboration with Joseph that saw her customise vintage leather jackets with hand-painting, a technique that has now become her signature. This was followed by a knock out graduation show at Westminster University and an impressive debut with Fashion East. Under Lulu Kennedy's wing Barrow continues to produce highly sought after custom leather pieces rendered with motifs that range from surrealism's sirens to floral ensembles.
The designer will bring this special technique, and her personal interest in roses, to our studio by crafting a bespoke biker live on camera over two days, 7 and 8 November, all while answering your questions. The creation will boast a intricate portrait of a rose as it goes through its life cycle, and will be brought to life by Badwan at the end of the broadcast in a dynamic shoot. Make sure not to miss this incredible LiveStudio appearance by a rising star of British fashion.
