Riding on a wave of ever-building excitement since her first show as part of Fashion East back in 2006, award-winning designer Louise Goldin has garnered a reputation for outstanding creative vision and a uniquely futuristic outlook. Offering Goldin's intriguing and experimental work an innovative new platform, SHOWstudio has collaborated with filmmakers Marcus Werner Hed and Jeremy Valender and Swarovski in our latest project, recording the process behind the creation of Goldin's latest Autumn/Winter 2009 collection and filming every step through to her latest show at London Fashion Week on Monday. Divided into ten sections, Unravelled literally pulls apart the intricately-knitted skeins of Goldin's inspiration, unravelling the process behind her collection backwards from the spectacular final show through to her original designs and primary inspiration.
To open our film series, we approached a selection of Goldin's mentors and supporters within the fashion industry to help us showcase her design to date, including Professor Louise Wilson OBE, esteemed head of the Central Saint Martins MA course, Lulu Kennedy of Fashion East, and journalist Sarah Mower, American Vogue and style.com contributing editor. Interspersed with footage from Goldin's five prior collections, this film can only stir anticipation for our next installment, shown on Wednesday 25 February and filmed barely 48-hours earlier front of house and backstage at Goldin's London catwalk show.
