    Interesting lecture about 'fashion aristocracy' and the dandy ..... and yet how does it relate to our 'world' today as in FASHION POLITICS ? .... The aristocracy no longer plays a relevant role or has any influence at all as it did in the past ! .... and the dandy is an absolute rare 'fashion species' most people would prefer to give a cold shoulder. The democratisation of FASHION has less to do with wanting to promote taste and/of the sense of exclusivity but more to do with mass imitation- production and the certain false illusion in some cases of having or belonging to certain ' status' and the borrowing of 'prestige' when it comes to certain exclusive brands if only because money is no objection to acquired them .... just dress to impress !.....
    Cashing on the allure and grandeur of tradition , craftsmanship , connoisseurship built along the time is what keeps such brands going and often the target of the nouveau rich who cannot, and pardon me for the example, distinguish between Aspreys and Aspirins in the matters of taste ... but then again that is a world in a bubble that most people don't really care about .... if just because the brands are not cool, not that cool enough by themselves ... and COOL is the key today ! .. Perhaps the new 'aristocrats are the , P. Diddys , the pseudo-dandies , the Victorias , a pseudo-royalty who indeed have the influence today to influence ' taste' and who do indeed inspire the masses when it comes to brands ..... that would had been an interesting subject to link with and of relevance today ..... I think ! ... and yet I did enjoy the film if just because of its rigour !
