Dressing the Screen: The Rise of Fashion Film is an exhibition that brings together work by some of the world’s most famous and innovative fashion designers and film-makers and is the official fringe event of Digital Fashion Week Singapore 2013 - British Exchange. Curated by filmmaker Kathryn Ferguson and designed by System Sovereign X Fuur, the exhibition explores the origins, history and pioneering role UK filmmakers and designers have played in the development of fashion film.
Ferguson hosted the launch event last night which included a screening and Q&A session with filmmakers Amanda Boyle, Ruth Hogben, Elisha Smith-Leverock, Sarah Piantadosi, MarieSchuller and Ferguson herself. Chaired by fashion commentator Caryn Franklin the panel explored the trajectory of fashion film and how these savvy filmmakers challenge traditional representations of femininity.
On demand footage of the thought provoking discussion will be available on SHOWstudio soon. Stay tuned for updates.
