Last Thursday evening saw the inaugural 'Fashion's Night Out', a global initiative coordinated by US and international editions of Vogue to promote shopping and help boost the economy. Numerous London shops held special in-store events and late-night openings, most notably Dover Street Market which was also celebrating its fifth anniversary. Alongside hoards of dedicated customers, many of the designers whose collections the store stocks were in attendance, including SHOWstudio favourites Marios Schwab, Peter Jensen and Stephen Jones. The ground floor played host to a new window and jewellery space created by set designer Michael Howells, entitled 'An Austrian Tea Room Attacked by Revolutionaries' alongside a display of the new Dover Street Market perfume. Created to commemorate the anniversary, the unisex scent has a modern construction of a classic woody note. Elsewhere, the newly renovated basement boasted an impressive shoebox installation for the launch of Comme's PLAY Converse trainers and the fourth floor's Rose Bakery furnished guests with gourmet finger foods. The celebration continues over the next month, with an exclusive collection (and word has it, a window display of penguins!) courtesy of Peter Jensen and photographer Tim Walker, debuting on the 28 September.
