Paris Fashion Week is off to an intriguing start, as evidenced in the first Autumn/Winter 2013 collection reviews by Kiki Georgiou. Her thoughts on the Rue Du Mail, Gareth Pugh, Rochas and Dries Van Noten are now up.
Under the creative direction of Martine Sitbon, Rue Du Mail showed looks with a winning combination of energy and purpose, comments Georgiou. Perhaps less pragmatic and more dramatic was Gareth Pugh’s show, which Georgiou evocatively describes as presenting ‘a ghost/Miss Havisham/sci-fi princess’.
Rochas' off-kilter elegant collection reflected a girl who prefers to ‘curl up on the sofa in her teddy bear bathrobe coat and silk PJs than go swirling in a big skirt’ says Georgiou. Georgiou goes on to say that Dries Van Noten showed ‘heavy cable knits with breezy silk fringing’ and ‘an embroidered grey wool bomber jacket that still gets you compliments ten years down the line’.
