If you've passed by our Bruton Place HQ since the SHOWstudio Shop Inside/Out show opened last month you may have noticed a rather unusual item in the window - this urinal, aptly titled Armitage Shanks . What you may not have noticed at first glance is the aphorism scrawled across the pan 'I’m not fucking Duchamp but I love pissing with you,' or indeed the signature planted below it - Lady Gaga. Nick Knight snapped the above image of the Lady herself in situ as she dropped off her work - which incidentally, is for display but not for sale. Rather than embodied in the physicality of the piece itself, the reference to the Inside/Out theme comes from Lady Gaga's 'marking' of said urinal with traces of herself, a fact reflected elsewhere in this exhibition through dresses inspired by internal processes, jewellery representing bone and viscera and a frock flecked with vomit in a virulent (but very pretty) shade of aquamarine.
