SHOWstudio's head of fashion film Marie Schuller will be taking part in a Russian Fashion film event later today at 15:00 in The Strand, London. The project, entiled New Russian Fashion in Film, is part of an ongoing collaboration between the British Council and the British Fashion Council. Embassies, cultural institutes and their partners are invited to select their brightest fashion talents, whose work will be shown in a series of exhibitions and installations during London Fashion Week.
Todays showcase presents fashion films from thirteen Russian fashion designers, created in collaboration with Russian filmmakers during the Dressing the Screen workshop in Moscow. Established by filmmaker and curator Kathryn Ferguson, the programme promotes and teaches fashion film around the world. British directors Grace Ladoja, Alex Turvey and our own Marie Schuller have provided curatorial support in Russia and the resulting fashion films are being premiered for the first time today.
Following the screening of the films and a behind the scenes featurette, Schuller will chair a panel discussion with Russian fashion insiders including stylist and blogger Vlasta Guryeva, journalist Natalia Turovnikova, FF.Digest's Maria Pudan, journalist Jana Melkumova-Reynolds, The Calvert Journal's Anastasiia Fedorova and Interview Russia's Natela Potskhveriya, as well as British filmmaker and Dressing the Screen curator Kathryn Ferguson.
There are a limited number of tickets still available, so book now! The films will be launched on SHOWstudio very soon. Above is a sneak peek from a film for designer David Gervorkov from the label DAVIDSROAD, directed by Ruslan Pelykh! Stay tuned for more!
