Our backstage shenanigans

You may have wondered where everyone disappeared to for the first part of today - well, Shona and Tim decided to photograph our model Giedre in a somewhat incongruous corridor here at Somerset House for a period, as a contrast to the stylised studio shots of yesterday. Why? Why not! The whole idea behind this shoot, Shona and Tim say, is that there is no pre-determined outcome - the end result has not been visualised, only the approach - which in itself is open to abstract interpretation and innovation. Shooting the project here at Somerset House has also had its impact - Shona mentioned that she feels very aware of her role as 'performer' for both web viewers and exhibition-goers alike, and the shoot's dual value as both process and entertainment. Hence, Shona herself ushered me into the corridor to record the above still for posterity!

I am really impressed with the attitude of Somerset House towards this project. They must be being very open minded and tolerant which Is brilliant of them. This is not always the case with other similar institutions. Not mentioning any names, but believe me this is very encouraging to see. Well done to Somerset House , more of this attitude would be welcomed in other museums.
