Speed of Light

Last night on London's Southbank, United Visual Artists (UVA) opened their Installation 'Speed of Light' to an eager crowd of invited guests. The project was commissioned by Virgin Media to mark the tenth anniversary of Broadband in the UK by exploring themes of communication and modernity. The first room asks viewers to reveal personal information by speaking into a microphone, prompted by questions written in lights on the wall. The rest of the installation takes these answers and uses them to control of a series of light installations, culminating in an audiovisual overload of lasers firing off to the sounds of everyone who has been through the space and participated.

Long standing viewers will remember our 2003 project 'Digital Echoes' where we collaborated with UVA on a live streamed catwalk show which featured dynamic projections based on the models movements. It was later made into a film by Nick Thornton Jones and Warren Du Preez and can be seen here.

Speed of Light runs from April 9 to 19
