The Fashion in Film festival

Marcel L' Herbier: Fabricating Dreams is the title for this year's Fashion in Film festival, which is now in its fourth year. Inspired by innovative film maker and director Marcel L'Herbier, the festival features his works from both the silent and sound eras and looks at exquisite fashions, modernist architecture and design, and the glamorous locations of the Cote d'Azur and Paris.

The festival will show some of L' Herbier's never before seen works, and will also feature talks and special screenings across venues such as the Barbican and BFI. An extensive programme of events has been set up, with live debates, presentations and shows. Professor Caroline Evans has also organised a symposium at Central Saint Martins, bringing together fashion, art and film historians to debate L'Herbier's legacy in a broader context of interwar Paris.

Why not get ahead of the game and brush up on your fashion film knowledge with our extensive archive before the festival kicks off on 10 May?
