Our latest Fashion Body film is not so much about a single item of clothing as the style and social mores of an entire subcultural movement, highlighting the resurgence of Northern Soul dancing and sixties revival scene. For our Fashion Body, the energetic dance moves that epitomise Northern Soul are the perfect opportunity to capture the left shin in action, filmed in Brighton - fittingly enough, the home of Quadrophenia - in Amy Ireland's contribution to our project.

    This makes me want to get up and dance.
    The video has all the airs of a darkened new York City club during 1920's Prohibition. That's when the city was trying - desperately - to control entertainment in clubs, so if you wanted people to dance in your establishment you had to obtain a cabaret license to operate. Unbeknownst to most, today, the law still stands. In fact, last I looked there are something like 5,000 liquor licenses, but in the five boroughs you can only legally dance about 200 places. Crazy, huh?

    Nothing forbidden about loving this piece though. I love the music and the mood! Watched this clip like 10 times now.

    Thanks for the comments, so glad you enjoyed the film! I just wanted to capture the energy of the dancefloor, the feeling I get when I walk through the doors of a soul do and hear that music, the buzz that I get when I hear that tune that I have to get up and dance to. Nothing gets me like Northern Soul, and being given the opportunity to make this for The Fashion Body was fantastic. Thanks to Zoe and Stella for doing such a brilliant job!
