Coinciding with the Met exhibition Punk: Chaos to Couture, on which Nick Knight served as a consultant, SHOWstudio celebrates fashion film with a dynamic new series. A range of our talented contributors were tasked with exploring punk's central theme of personal expression and DIY by creating or customizing a special item of clothing to serve as the subject of their individual fashion film.
SHOWstudio is proud to present its third instalment of the Punk series; Untrue by Nathaniel Brown. In this short film, Brown presents an estranged lover hovering over a cliff and delivering her inner thoughts while staring menacingly in the distance. With the sound of clashing waves and crushing footsteps, turmoil is definitely hinted. The model wears a bespoke coat by Gro Curtis, which was made especially for the film. This is now available for purchase from SHOWstudio Shop.
Speaking on the film, Brown commented, 'I'm a romantic, so my concept of Punk revolved around the reference of a note Sid wrote on the things he loved about Nancy. It's a bit of a 'fuck-love' kind of punk. It's not studs and guitars. Punk can find itself in various forms of rebellion, and this version involves love.'
