Art world virtuosos Elmgreen & Dragset presented corridors of dysfunctional tableaus for their exhibition 'The Welfare State' at London's Serpentine Gallery last night. Their brand of structural critique and exploration of public and private space and socio-economic systems has been lauded as a very engaged and humourous prompt to reconsider our environments. There is often a performative aspect to their practice, either with their own participation, or in the way the art work encourages and denies the spectator to interfere with it. In Uncollected viewers are left to contemplate the endless rotation of anonymous left luggage on a carousel from behind glass.
