YSL opens Paris Menswear Week with a movie!

Simon Woods and Stefano Pilati on set before Christmas

We're delighted that the experience of making the 24hrs films was a good one for Stefano Pilati: it seems he's really caught the bug and is presenting a film rather than a catwalk show tomorrow night to showcase his A/W '08-09 mens' collection. Created in collaboration with directors Sarah Chatfield and Chris Sweeney of the London-based music video production company Colonel Blimp, the film stars the British actor Simon Woods (only-man-in-the-village Dr. Harrison in the BBC's recent Cranford).

If my powers of charm and persuasion have effect, I may have more for you next week. In the meantime, the lovely Hywel Davies has agreed to take the SHOWstudio picture phone to Paris over the weekend. As his new book 'Modern Menswear' is just launching, he should have plenty anecdotal information and expertise to share, so stay tuned to the BLOG for menswear reportage, live, as it happens.
