For his debut in Paris, Aitor Throup launched his collection entitled 'Legs', a retrospective of trouser designs he has created since 2004. Male forms, molded in cotton mesh were frozen in movement and suspended from the ceiling, each one displaying one of Throup's innovative trouser designs. True to Throup's design philosophy the exhibition communicates the force by which the designer is fuelled - the process, which involves Throup creating clothes through a process of drawings, that mutate into sculptures and then into garments. With utilitarian clothing as a strong influence for Throup's clothing, his single-minded approach to construction is engaging and challenging perceptions of contemporary British menswear. As part of the presentation, Throup created a film to communicate the essence of his trousers' designs, which ultimately challenge and fuse ideas on form and function.
