Since Christophe Decarnin’s quick departure from Balmin his former assistant Olivier Rousteing has been leading the team and conserving the tried and tested Balmain aesthetic. Balmain fans have nothing to fear, as there are no tremors at the house of Balmain - the new season is vey much in kin with the old.
For next spring long-tuxedo jackets, biker jeans, and leather jackets are still on the Balmain hit list, but this time round they are refreshed in pastel hues of lemon, mint, and orange. These new summery colours were mottled to look sun-bleached and aged, and followed the worn in experience that has defined Balmain’s recent style success.
This was a safe continuation for Balmain menswear and stood very close to Christophe Decarnin’s previous collections. The test will come will come in the future, when Olivier Rousteing decides to stamp his own DNA on the label.
