The current disparity between Kris Van Assche’s own line and Dior Homme is significant. While Van Assche’s own collection plays out within a strict monochromatic viewpoint, Dior Homme’s charisma and distinction is increasing, due to its design confidence, and this season its superior colour palette.
For next summer Kris van Assche presented a sharply tailored collection in refined tones of soft white, tan, black and grey. Stand out pieces included a caramel leather t-shirt and sleeveless single-breasted jacket, finished with leather lapels.
Varied incarnations of loose shirts, tunics and trousers were formed in linen and trimmed in lambskin for ultimate luxury. Full trenches were constructed in silk and double-breasted jackets were decorated with military buttons shown in reverse. Wide brimmed hats as seen last season, outfitted several looks, adding to the elegant approach.
The collection although casual in essence, was sharp and perfectly executed. A beautifully simple and modern collection by Van Assche, which defined Dior Homme as simultaneously luxurious and austere.
