Stephanie LaCava report on the Junya Watanabe show

The show opened in flames: a red athletic top and pant with orange detailing. What followed was a sporty parade that at first may have seemed simple, though in truth was perhaps more complex.
The show opened in flames: a red athletic top and pant with orange detailing. What followed was a sporty parade that at first may have seemed simple, though in truth was perhaps more complex. The cut and structure were high concept with contrasting neon or mesh panels and vents and so was the message. Here was a full on runway show - and not Y3 - with silver cyborg helmets and sneakers as accessories and not one conventional evening dress. Was Watanabe yawning at street style culture, poking fun at all that posing?
