For Summer 2013 Dalton continues an adolescent journey from youth to maturity and specifically an obsession and need for perfection.
Lou Dalton is a class act – a working class act. The designer’s fixation with her working roots transforms the male underdog into a well-dressed soul. This individual who seeks to succeed against all the odds is the foundation of all Dalton’s collections to date and each season Dalton’s exploration is re-written to continue her affinity with the male lead.
For Summer 2013 Dalton continues to study this adolescent journey from youth to maturity and specifically an obsession and need for perfection. Played out through the attention to detail and the fit of a garment, Dalton fused sartorial and sports ideas into a collection that had an athletic leaning.
Dalton sought inspiration from 70’s classics such as Taxi Driver, Eraserhead and Breaking Away to which evolved trousers that stopped below the knee, round shoulder T-shirts and trainers worn with slim silhouetted tailoring. Mesh-paneled jackets and fluro strips on shirting ensured the collection stayed in the fast lane and raised the refined palette of black, navy, stone and burgundy
Dalton’s measured and skillful collection continues to demonstrate a sensitive viewpoint on modern menswear. With a looser silhouette than her standard aesthetic Dalton’s new look was young but not teenage. Dalton’s creates clothes are commercial - another well judged outing for the designer.
