The title of Mihara’s winter 2012 collection, “Insider Outsider” explored according to the show notes, “Modern exchanges, traditional disciplines and the relationship between speed and effect of transmission.” The designer was considering the idea that contemporary communication allows people to exchange ideas instantaneously and these values are transmitted with an overwhelming speed in comparison to the past. Despite this global knowledge Mihara studied those individuals who were not privy to this knowledge and consequently created a wardrobe for his 'Outsiders'.

This poetic vision found its place in the collection which demonstrated Mihara’s signature layering and expertise in fusing traditional tailoring with military details. A somber palette formed cropped peacoats, baggy cargo pants, sliced jackets, ponchos, parkas, camouflage suiting and tailored sportswear - all of which were beautifully constructed and inherently modern. Hidden detailing of embroidery inside cuffs and behind collars offered the wearer a silent individuality that defines Mihara’s exquisite craftsmanship.

Mihara’s collection excelled in creating a sublime approach to menswear that balances the fine line between being creative and commercial. A master at work, Mihara yet again proved his refined taste level and acute ability to create desirable and plausible menswear.
