For A/W 2012 Oscar de la Renta showed every suburban girl's dream dress, one after another, to the apropos soundtrack of Maniac.
So, this is what prom looks like when you're a princess? You can choose between a diamante headband or tiara, pink fox fur stole or paillette embroidered coat, baby blue tulle or puffy cotton candy taffeta. For A/W 2012 Oscar de la Renta showed every suburban girl's dream dress, one after another, to the apropos soundtrack of Maniac ('She's a maniac, maniac on the floor... and she's dancing like she never did before.') That's not a bad thing, rather a welcome throwback to when dressing up and going out meant embracing glamorous abandon and piling on the costume jewels. Away from teenage fantasyland, you could rock the trompe l'oeil bijoux skirt with a white t shirt and super high lace up shoes or a tweed printed chiffon blouse with a pair of trousers or jeans. Even the shiny jewellery - gold and black earrings, sunburst brooches, metal belts - could be playful, even cool, if worn with a healthy dose of irony. And those Fogal fishnets.
