Tweed suits, bulky sweaters, velvet jackets and long over coats were purposely mixed up and styled to promote a distinctive rock and roll attitude.
For his new autumn winter 2010 collection, British bastion Paul Smith reflected on his history - to a time when he started selling t-shirts at the age of eighteen to rock bands. Now paying musicians from French and British bands to model in his show, Smith presented a typically eclectic British viewpoint on style for next season. Tweed suits, bulky sweaters, velvet jackets and long over coats were purposely mixed up and styled to promote a distinctive rock and roll attitude. Block coloured slim suits and signature print shirts were defined by the characters that wore them and proved that Smith's interest lies in dressing the individual. The collection may have been rooted in Smith's nostalgia for his musical references, but it didn't negate the delivery of real and relevant clothes.
