‘Real’ models in different sizes, shapes and ages reaffirmed the mantra that Yamamoto’s clothes are ageless and relevant for all.
For his winter collection Yohji Yamamoto continued his approach of creating elegant attire for his devoted clientele. A seamless extension from last season, the designer continues to craft baggy silhouettes that promote a loose fitting ease that is inherently Yamamoto.
Taking a sharper military stance Yamamoto put coats as the central motif. These came in many incarnations including blanket coats, double-lapel morning coats and floor sweeping over coats. Exploring Victoriana evening dress Yamamoto’s coats were worn over cropped suits in large checks and chunky pinstripe wools and silk pajamas.
Mexican hats topped the gentlemanly attire as ‘real’ models in different sizes, shapes and ages reaffirmed the mantra that Yamamoto’s clothes are ageless and relevant for all.
A sense of calm confidence always resonates from a Yamamoto show and their is an appreciation that there is a master at work – and this season Yamamoto’s tailoring was at its best.
