Alex Israel is an artist and writer. Born in 1982 in Los Angeles, he achieved his degree at Yale University in 2003, going on to complete a Master's in Fine Art at the Roski School of Fine Arts, University of Southern California in 2010.
Israel's work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museo Civico Diocesano di Santa Maria dei Servi, Citta' della Pieve, Italy. Other shows have taken place at Reena Spaulings Fine Art in New York, Peres Projects in Berlin and a solo exhibition at the Gagosian in London.
Israel's work has been featured in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Frieze, Artforum, Art in America, Mousse, Interview, W and the Hollywood Reporter. He is a regular contributor to Purple Fashion and founder and CEO of Freeway Eyewear, Inc.
