Bianca Saunders

Designer

Bianca Saunders is a fashion designer born and based in London. She completed her BA in Fashion Design at Kingston University, then specialised in menswear during her MA at the Royal College of Art.

Her work is an exploration of different identities and draws heavily on her background growing up in London with a strong West-Indian heritage. Her MA graduate collection centred on black male identities and aimed to challenge stereotypes of hypermasculinity, proposing a new kind of aesthetic accented with feminine details.

Her research is heavily based on self-documentation and in June 2017 she curated an exhibition entitled Personal Politics at Miranda at the Ace Hotel London. The exhibition streamed Saunders' collection film Permission, directed by Akinola Davis Jr. In 2019, Saunders curated an exhibition called Nearness at Market Row in Brixton, held to coincide with Black History Month
