Bouchra Jarrar

Fashion Designer

Born in Cannes to Moroccan parents, Bouchra Jarrar mastered her sewing skills aged twelve by watching and copying her mother. She joined the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Appliqués de Duperré in Paris in 1991, after which she was appointed Studio Director at Balenciaga in 1996. Jarrar held this position until 2006, going on to work with Christian Lacroix until 2009.

Jarrar launched her own label during Paris haute couture week in July 2010, offering a unique vision of well-tailored, hand-crafted modern silhouettes, which were greeted with a great success and secured Jarrar a vital place on the Haute Couture schedule. In 2010 Jarrar was nominated for the ANDAM award.

In March 2016, Jarrar was announced as the new artistic director fo Lanvin women’s lines. She decided to close her eponymous label to focus on the renewal of the French couture house. She left Lanvin after two critically acclaimed runway shows.

In January 2020, Jarrar gave continuation to her Maison with a new collection, EDITION N°1, presented during the Paris Couture shows.
