Colonel Cator Sparks is a journalist for a variety of magazines and websites. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia Cator attended the College of Charleston where he majored in French and later the American College in London where he graduated with honors with a Fashion Marketing degree. Since moving to New York City in 1999 Cator has worked in both beauty and fashion PR, which lead to his transition to a full time journalist.
Currently Mr. Sparks writes for VanityFair.com, FullFrontalFashion.com, 1stdibs.com, Elle Décor, T Magazine and Nowness.com and is the U.S. Editor of WeAr magazine. His focus is men’s fashion and design.
Cator has no problem tackling a good fashion story or event since he is out and about nearly every night whether it be the Frick Ball uptown or a Visionaire party downtown. Cator has been featured for his own dandified style in Ike Ude’s Style File, The Daily Telegraph, Stylelikeu.com and in Bill Cunningham’s section of The New York Times, Evening Hours.
Cator lives in a townhouse in Harlem where he has been Block President for four years running. Recently Cator was commissioned a Colonel of Kentucky by Governor Steven L. Beshear and has requested all friends and family call him ‘Colonel Cator’ from now on.
