Born in 1979 to a french academic mother and an armenian architect father, Charles Anastase studied Political Sciences at the Lycée Charlemagne in Paris and began his career as an artist in 2002. His poignant pencil drawings were shown around the world in a series of exhibitions in Paris, Vienna, Tokyo and Mexico and appeared in prestigious magazines including Purple and Dazed and Confused. The culmination of this recognition was the use of his illustrations in a Calvin Klein advertising campaign in 2004.

Worn by clients as varied as Keira Knightley, Beth Ditto, Alexa Chung and Yoko Ono, Anastase's collections are inspired by the beauty of Victorian drawings that have long fascinated him. Described as demi-couture, his silhouettes are executed with a precision evocative of Savile Row tailoring and a painterly and playful hand with elements of naïveté and deconstruction.
