Claudio Sinatti

Artist

Claudio Sinatti (1972-2014) was a multimedia artist who lived and works in Milan. He began as a graphic and graffiti artist in the early nineties, before moving onto directing in film and video. As a director he created music promos for Italian bands such as Casino Royale, Neffa, Carmen Consoli, Alex Britti and 99 Posse. In 1999 Sinatti founded a collective for audio-visual experimentation that drew together videomakers, photographers, illustrators and musicians, all of whom bought their expertise to a wide variety of projects. Claudio Sinatti exhibited internationally and collaborated with artists from Christian Fennesz to Stephan Mathieu.

Before he passed away in 2014, Sinatti had focused on exploring the frontiers of live electronics and audiovisual installations, crossing between personal artistic research and commercial projects. His 2007 work saw Henry Hathaway’s 1966 movie Nevada Smith twisted to A Shaved Mint and re-edited into a 16 panning collage. He also exhibited a 12 custom monitor interactive installation called Per Mille Giraffe!
