Manchester-born Henry Holland graduated from the London College of Printing with a degree in journalism. In 2006, an idea for a T-shirt he made for his friend and designer Gareth Pugh emblazoned with the rhyming couplet ‘UHU Gareth Pugh’ developed into a series of graphic-inspired T-shirts. House of Holland was then born! The early designs referenced slogan tees of the eighties and featured rhymes about fashion figures such as Giles Deacon and Naomi Campbell.
In February 2008, after two seasons showing with Fashion East, House of Holland held its first solo show on the main Fashion Week schedule. It won the 'Best Use of Tartan Award' at the Scottish Fashion Awards a few months later.
Throughout his career Holland has been involved in various collaborations. In addition to collaborating with Kickers footwear, Holland has also designed bags to commemorate the new Eurostar terminus and for Mulberry’s London Fashion Week window. He has also produced a line of shoes for Italian footwear brand Superga.
Holland’s work has gained press coverage worldwide. He is notable for frequently choosing to showcase his designs on model and childhood friend, Agyness Deyn. Recognised as being a proponent of the London fashion new wave, Holland has had his label stocked in Barneys, Browns Focus, Colette, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and Opening Ceremony.
House of Holland features in a project.
