Jonathan William Anderson has quickly established himself as a leading menswear designer in London. Taking iconic men’s shapes and reinterpreting them using unexpected fabrics, JW Anderson's silhouette is challenging and refreshing, going against the grain and creating new movements in menswear.
Anderson is originally from Northern Ireland, and after first pursuing a career in acting he subsequently fell in love with stage costumes and went on to graduate in menswear from the London College of Fashion. Stockists include oki-ni.com, Liberty, Harrods, Colette, Opening Ceremony and ASOS.
J.W. Anderson showed for the first time off-schedule in London in September 2008 after which he was selected to show within the MAN showcase for the following two seasons. For AW10 Jonathan received NEWGEN Men sponsorship to show at London Fashion Week. For AW10 Jonathan also launched his debut women’s collection, which takes elements from the men’s collection and expands on his already popular jewellery and accessories.
J.W. Anderson continues to experiment with moving image and is a pioneer of the use of digital technology and the concept of immediate sales whereby select pieces are sold immediately following the shows and presentations at London Fashion Week.
J.W. Anderson combines the work on his own label with heritage men’s label Sunspel where he was appointed Creative Director in 2010.
You have to cast a vibe and tell a story, if you don't then it’s just garments, it’s just thirty exits of skirts and dresses.
