Jane Shepherdson is CEO of fashion retail company Whistles. She is also the non-executive director for Peopletree Fair Trade Fashion and creative advisor for Oxfam. Shepherdson has led management at Whistles since 2008 and is responsible for repositioning the brand and creating a vision and strategy.
During her time at Topshop, where she was brand director from 1999 to 2007, she repositioned an average high street teenage market-aimed brand to a design-led global label through a focused strategy of design authority and creative investment in the store portfolio.
Shepherdson has also established extensive sponsorship programmes for students and fledgling designers. She has been involved in the promotion and support of young designers in London through the London College of Fashion’s Centre of Fashion Excellence, On/Off and Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Shepherson is also involved in various consultancy projects in the UK and Australia. As creative advisor at Oxfam - where she manages store designs, as well as handling product sourcing and marketing - Shepherdson works on global fashion related projects and fundraising initiatives.
A member of the British Fashion Council, Shepherdson also sits on various advisory boards and has achieved industry recognition for her work in fashion retail services. In February 2006, she was appointed Member of the British Empire for services to fashion retail and was awarded with an honorary doctorate from the University of the Arts London, where she is a visiting professor, in December 2011.
