Marius Hansen is a Norwegian born photographer based in London. After studying on the photography course at Garnes Videregaaende School in Norway he graduated from the Photography course at The Surrey institute of Art and Design in with a BA(Hons) in 2002. Hansen has assistant experience with photographers Oystein Klakegg and Victor Boullet. Hansen has been freelance for two years, during which time he has developed a practice working with a broad range of music, style-press and broadcast clients. His portraiture is refreshing for his use locations such as parks, the countryside or marginal places and his ability to capture sitters from a distance in available light, rendering them somewhat unassuming. In a similar way his approach to landscapes avoid aggressive statement; cities are depicted from high vantage points and wilderness through shallow screens of trees. balancing colour play against structural delicacy.
