Max Vadukul is a photographer and film director. Born in Nairobi, Kenya and raised in London, he currently lives in New York with his wife and frequent collaborator, Nicoletta Santora, fashion editor at Italian Vogue, and their two children. Discovered by Yohji Yamamoto in 1984 whilst living in Paris, Vadukul later moved to New York where he began collaborating with Tina Brown, formerly of Vanity Fair, which led to a three-year contract with The New Yorker. This was only the second contract given to a photographer, second to Richard Avedon, in the magazine’s 100 year history.
Vadukul's editorial work regularly appears in high-profile publications including Italian Vogue, L'uomo Vogue, Vogue Hommes International, Interview and i-D. He has also shot campaigns for brands such as Comme des Garçons, Sonia Rykiel, Chloé and Yohji Yamamoto.
