Michael Baumgarten is a photographer and motion artist, who was born in 1971 in Germany. After working for German-speaking theatres and studying performing arts, Baumgarten organized a Fotofestival in Frankfurt which including the award-winning book and show Alexandra S., From Autochrome to Ilfochrome. Baumgarten moved to Paris in 1993 in order to approach multimedia and still photography via assisting and autodidact studies. Since then he has worked for various magazines and design houses such as Conde Nast Publications, Studio Edelkoort, and Hermès, to name a few. He has also participated in group shows and several collective books on fashion and art.
