Mugler is a fashion and fragrance house, founded by Strasbourg-born Thierry Mugler in 1973. Defining his fantastised version of the sexy -and sexual- Parisian woman from his first collection 'Café de Paris', Mugler developed his character through classical reference and a futuristic filter, as well as the use of exaggerated forms to create a modern erogeneity. Mugler opened his first Paris boutique in 1978, in the same year as launching his menswear collection, giving an equally bold definition of masculinity as he had been doing with femininity in womenswear.
Mugler launched his first fragrance in 1992, the same year he showed his first Haute Couture collection. Called 'Angel', the patchouli-based scent with the sweetness of praline and chocolate redefined the market and launched a new trend in 'oriental gourmand' fragrances and is one of the most successful perfumes of all time. Mugler now produces a wide range of fragrances including Alien and Angel Men.
In September 2010, Nicola Formichetti was announced as the new Creative Director of the Mugler brand, presiding over Sebastien Peigné for womenswear and Roman Kremer for menswear.
