As an adviser on arts and philanthropic projects, Mirza has worked as a Deputy Mayor for Education and Culture for eight years in the London Mayor's Office, and prior to this worked for a range of organisations including Tate and the Royal Society of Arts.

Mirza has also worked as a Development Director for the conservative think-tank Policy Exchange. Whilst at this position, she edited a collection of essays published as Culture Vultures: Is UK arts policy damaging the arts? which challenged the government's efforts to promote socially inclusive arts.

She also serves on the board of the Royal Opera House and is a judge on 2017 'Museum of the Year Award' for The Art Fund.
