Nathan Jenden

Fashion Designer

London native Nathan Jenden’s career began in Paris apprenticing with John Galliano after graduating from Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design and the Royal College of Art. Following a year as a designer at Kenzo, Jenden moved to New York in 1998 to head up Daryl K’s men’s and women’s design team as Design Director. After his tenure at Daryl K, Jenden joined Diane Von Furstenberg as Creative Director in 2001, where he collaborated with Diane in expanding her line of iconic designs as well as building the DVF brand until February 2010.

In February 2006 Jenden launched his own label with a runway show at Lady Mendl’s Tea Room during New York Fashion Week. Angel Heart, his first collection for his eponymous label was followed by The Collector for Spring/Summer 2007. The line was stocked exclusively at Browns for Spring/Summer 2007, and the store used Jenden’s designs as part of its British fashion designer window display during London Fashion Week in February.

Jenden returned to his home town of London to show his third collection Gatecrasher at Wilton’s Music Hall for Autumn/Winter 2007. Collaborating with Philip Treacy on headpieces, and Christian Louboutin for heels, the show followed the success of his New York outings with strong reviews from the International Herald Tribune, Evening Standard and WWD. With Madonna already a fan of his designs, her stylist Arianne Phillips proclaimed it her favourite London show and editors started calling in pieces for titles including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, ELLE and V.

Jenden continued to show in London for the following six seasons and his show continues to be a highlight of London Fashion Week attended by editors from leading magazines such as ELLE US and UK, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire US and UK, Glamour and InStyle as well as leading freelance stylists.

Stores such as Matches, Villa Moda, Joyce Hong Kong, Harrods and Net-a-Porter now stock the collection. Jenden filmed segments for Project Catwalk UK, while British actress Thandie Newton picked a number of his dresses to wear to promotional appearances for her movie Run Fat Boy Run including a monochrome leather bow dress which she wore for the world premiere.

In 2018, it was announced that Jenden would return to Diane von Furstenberg as creative director, following the departure of Jonathan Saunders, with his first collection of his second tenure showing for Autumn/Winter 2018. In September 2018, Jenden took leave from DVF for health reasons.
