Olanic is a fashion label founded by Scottish designer Niki Taylor in 2004. After studying Art and Design in Edinburgh, Taylor went on to study Fashion Design and Manufacture at the Scottish College of Textiles at Heriot Watt University where she learned cutting and tailoring techniques. Taylor set up Olanic (an anagram of her first full name Nicola) upon graduating and showed her first mainline collection at Rendez-Vous, Paris, in October 2004 and has exhibited following collections at London Fashion Week.
Following Olanic’s first catwalk show at London Fashion Week in September 08, the label has established a loyal clientele within the music and entertainment industries: influential stars such as Alexa Chung, Florence & the Machine, Ladyhawke, Shingai from The Noisettes and Marina Diamandis are all attracted to the performance-perfect dresses, jumpsuits and quirky t-shirts.
Influenced by underground pop culture, art, film and music, Olanic strives to create practical styles with a tailored edge. Driven by the idea of cross-collaboration, Taylor works regularly with film-maker and video director Sandy Hutton to create short films based around her designs.
