Olivier Rousteing

Olivier Rousteing is the creative director of Balmain. Raised in Bordeaux, France, he studied fashion at Paris’s Ecole Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode (ESMOD). At the age of 18, he moved to Italy, where he worked for Roberto Cavalli for five years, beginning as an intern before rising through the ranks to be named designer for both the men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections. He returned to Paris to work for Balmain’s design team for two years before being selected as head of design in 2011. At the age of 25, he became one of the youngest talents ever named as the head of a historic Parisian fashion house. In 2019, he was the subject of a documentary Olivier Rousteing: Wonder Boy.
