Philip Dunn

Artist

A Northumberland-born artist and illustrator, Philip Dunn graduated from the University of the Arts London with a BA in Fashion Illustration in 2011. Dunn's work is a mixture of fluid pattern making and swiftly drawn, witty portraiture, rich with cultural references and an underlying edge that hints at the macabre.

His illustrated, ostensibly comic, characters look out, helplessly, from the page with eyes that may have seen a little too much of the world. Inks, paints, line, colour, lettering, graphics and props create a cavalcade of historic notables, clowns, Royals, British landed gentry, defeated London nightlifers and, of course, fashionistas.

Dunn's creative flair and sharp eye has found him work as Assistant Designer at Piers Atkinson, and won him commissions with Selfridges, the Wallace Collection and Port Eliot Literary Festival.
