Ralph Lauren

Fashion Designer

Following a degree in Business Science and a period of military service, New York-born Ralph Lauren's first step in building a multi-billion dollar fashion empire came in designing a range of ties, originally sold at Bloomingdale's department store in 1967. With no formal design training, Lauren has gone on to expand his business into a holistic lifestyle brand that includes multiple fashion lines as well as homeware.

Considered one of the cornerstones of American fashion, Lauren has been honoured multiple times by the industry, including the first-ever CFDA Lifetime Achievement award–an honor created specifically for him and presented by Audrey Hepburn–in 1992. He has also been appointed Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur by France in 2010, and Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) in 2018.
