Rebecca Lowthorpe

Fashion Director

Rebecca Lowthorpe is a British fashion journalist. She was previously fashion director at Grazia 2016-2019, and before that fashion features director of British ELLE, a post she held 2004-2015. Prior to ELLE, she worked on newspapers, including the Independent and the Independent on Sunday, being fashion editor at the latter.

Lowthorpe studied Fashion Communication and Promotion at Central Saint Martins, graduating in 1993 with a first class BA Hons. She has contributed as a writer to many magazines, websites and newspapers, including Sunday Times Style, Style.com, Vogue Japan, US Harper’s Bazaar and Pop. She has twice been nominated for a PPA Writer of the Year award.

Lowthorpe consults for various brands and individuals including Karen Millen and Hussein Chalayan, the latter for whom she contributed an essay for his book, Hussein Chalayan, published by Rizzoli in 2011. She is the external womenswear assessor at the Royal College of Art and a member of the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN selection panel.
