Robert Cary-Williams

Fashion Designer

Born in 1966, Robert Cary-Williams launched his eponymous label in 1998. A graduate of Central Saint Martin's School of Art & Design in London, Cary-Williams returned to Saint Martins to pursue an MA in Fine Art. A bold experimenter, Cary-Williams is known for playing with the tensions and limits of fabric, most notably in his 'Shotgun' T-shirt series, which developed a cult following. His work has all the delicate beauty of vintage couture, but with military and temporal influences drawn from his agricultural roots and early working life in the army. Examples of his work feature in the permanent collections of London's Victoria & Albert Museum and New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Cary-Williams is also a visiting lecturer at the Iceland Academy of Arts.
